A lot of folks say: “What is God’s will for my life? I need to figure that out.” Even Christians will say that. It’s really a sign that they are not yet “Sold out” for Jesus. Because when you are, you know what God’s will is: Deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow him daily! (Matthew 16:24, Luke 9:23, Mark 8:34).
Or, as Paul said in the letter to the Thessalonians (5:16-18) “Rejoice always! Pray continuously; and thank God in all circumstances. For this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” (quoted from memory, how’d I do?). Being thankful for all things is not easy, but as Paul was “Content in all circumstances” so must we be (Philippians 4:11).
In other words, no matter what, follow Jesus and love Him and rejoice that you can become more like Him (suffering for the eternal Kingdom of God). If you love Him, you will obey Him. Obeying Him means:
1. Treating others as more important than yourself (Philippians 2:3, loosely, also the Golden Rule, Matthew 7:12).
2. Telling others about Him (if you found the greatest treasure ever, wouldn’t you want to tell folks about it? Matthew 28:19-20).
3. Taking care of the widows and orphans (ministry, James 1:27).
4. Keep oneself pure (again James 1:27, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4).
And there’s probably a whole host of other things we can or should do as followers of the King of Kings, but if we all just did one of those things, it would be a different world, eh?
