Could The United States Have A Muslim President?

Well, aside from the idea that I believe we already have one, I think this discussion is relevant.

Dr. Ben Carson was taken to task by the Mainstream Media for his statement that he does not believe Islam is compatible with our Constitution.  Senator Ted Cruz came out today stating that he believes there is “No Religious test” for who can be President.  I think both of those positions are actually correct, and are even compatible.  Governor Jindal actually came out and put it best:

“This is a dumb game that the press is playing, it is an absurd hypothetical question.”

Jindal indulged the media in a statement handed out to the press on Monday.

“If you can find me a Muslim candidate who is a Republican, who will fight hard to protect religious liberty, who will respect the Judeo-Christian heritage of America, who will be committed to destroying ISIS and radical Islam, who will condemn cultures that treat women as second class citizens and who will place their hand on the Bible and swear to uphold the Constitution, then yes, I will be happy to consider voting for him or her.”

I can agree with all of that.

Here is my actual reasoning:

Our government was crafted by folks who had a distinctly Judeo-Christian world view, and they knew that man’s number one problem is sin. Thus, they designed a government where there were checks and balances, where all the power could never be concentrated in the hands of any one person. The distrusted men since our natural tendency is to seek more power. What our Constitutional Republic has become would frighten our founding fathers, since they never dreamed of legislating from the Judiciary, nor of Executive Orders being used to make laws either. Term limits should have been considered, and should be enacted with a Constitutional Amendment process.

The tenets of islam are all contrary to how our government works, in fact, they are nearly opposite with sharia law concentrating all the power in the hands of a few in order to rule as tyrants over the many.  The Qur’an has many flaws that make it incompatible with our Constitution besides that, they treat women as 2nd class citizens, they kill – outright – gays and lesbians, as well as mete out harsh punishments to those who do not adhere perfectly to the requirements of their law during special rituals.  Followers of Islam, those who do not denounce the leader Mohammed as a madman, and those who do not declare jihad to be the ravings of a lunatic, have no place in our government.
