Fourteen Years After

My mom and dad both lived through Pearl Harbor. My uncle was there – at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7th, 1941 when the Japanese attacked. They seldom spoke about it. The “Greatest Generation” wanted to forget. It’s a shame, because when you forget history, things repeat themselves.

Now our generation has 9/11. I met a guy who was there in one of the towers when the planes hit. He was in a conference room, giving a presentation. He was a VP for a company that had offices in the Twin Towers. He was changed, in an instant. He quit his job and to my knowledge, never went back.

We were all changed, in various ways. We had our first look at the real face of Islam: Jihad. Anyone who tells you that Islam is a “Religion of Peace” is lying. There are over 1B followers world wide. Even if just 10-15% of them are “Radical” then that makes it 100M – 150M RADICAL JIHADISTS who want us dead. They want Israel wiped off the map also.

We must not forget – ever! We don’t have to be passive either. The Bible doesn’t say to lay down like sheep and be slaughtered. It doesn’t say “Do not kill” it says “Do not MURDER”. Big difference. The original King James Version got that wrong, and messed up many people. There is such a thing as a just war. And one look at the smoldering towers on 9/11 was enough for all of us to realize that EVIL IS REAL.

  1. One of the things that struck me as I watched the tribute videos again was the number of folks who were jumping from the Towers before they fell. I guess in order to have jumped, at least two things would need to be true: 1. You are cooking; 2. You have no hope of rescue (no way out, stairs blocked and fires above and below you).

What would any of us do in that situation? Was it similar to the Christians facing the lions in the Coliseum? I wonder. I wonder how many of those people who jumped at the World Trade Center were believers in Jesus Christ. Did they have hope in the eternal life-saving message of the gospel? How about you? Do you know Him?

What if somebody from ISIS walks up to you tomorrow and sticks a gun in your face and says “Swear allegiance to Allah, or die!” What are you gonna do? Is it the same thing? Are these all the same scenario only with minor variations?

Romans 10:13 – “For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.””

  2. Thanks for sharing. It seems like so many people here in America don’t see Islam as any kind of threat, and soon it may be too late to do anything about it. What happened on 9/11 probably won’t be the last massive terrorist attack. We’ve seen the Boston Bombing, Fort Hood, Chattanooga, and at least 10 sniper shootings since then. And this current administration is luring them into the country.

And you’re right that calling on the name of the Lord is our only real hope.
