Anybody who knows me knows that I absolutely DETEST the out and out commercialism of Christmas. It absolutely blows my mind that folks will line up days in advance to buy themselves TV’s and other “stuff” just because retailers put out a few loss-leaders at the start of the “Shopping” season. Christmas is supposed to be about a wonderful time when we celebrate the coming of our Savior to earth in the humblest way possible: As a baby.
Well, I must say that there are some paybacks as far as I can see. I’ve been tracking the prices on a few laptops that have what I would call “desirable” characteristics: Quad processor, lots of RAM and very large hard drive capacity. Two weeks ago one of those machines was selling – on Amazon – for $649. Today it’s selling for $766.50! Take that all you holiday shopaholics! HA! And today is Cyber-Monday when all the “deals” are supposed to be available. Looks like eager retailers are trying to make some EXTRA profit off the notion that so many folks will be shopping online today thinking they’re getting deals.
